Refund and Returns Policy

Overview

Our refund and returns policy lasts 60 days, for 100% money back guarantee. You have the option of replacement, or a refund with a return of the item back to our shop.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. New items must be returned with the original packaging.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.

Bug infestations, damage from negligence in handling items, and external/internal damage caused by the result of modifying or tampering with the original state of the console will not be covered by our warranty.

Frequently asked questions around returns/refunds (this is not an all encompassing list, for specific questions please reach out):
Q: What if the game I buy does not work once it arrives?
A: You’re covered under our 60 day warranty. We test every game before stocking, and before shipping out to you. We do our very best to eliminate this from happening by using high quality ELM USA machines to resurface discs, replacing dry save batteries on cartridges, and by testing the game for at least 5-10 minutes past the title screens which allows ample time for the laser to reach various areas of the disc. This process should catch most issues, but in the event it does not, we will take care of you! We will cover return shipping back to our shop.

Q: What if the console I purchased worked fine upon receipt, but a month later is no longer working as it should (doesn’t read discs, stopped turning on, etc.)?
A: You’re covered under our 60 day warranty. Every console that comes into our shop is given a deep level of care and testing before being stocked, and before shipping out to you! From deep cleaning, to part inspection/repairs, to regular maintenance like thermal paste replacement. However, there are times that the unforeseen will occur at no fault to either party. In these circumstances, we will work with you to troubleshoot the issue, and provide the option of a repair, replacement, or refund with return of the item. We will cover return shipping back to our shop.

Q: I purchased a game last week, but found another copy cheaper at a garage sale, can I return it?
A: We will accept your return within the 60 day window, however, your refund will be reduced by a 20% restocking fee and you will be responsible for return shipping back to our shop.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 1-3 business days.

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund yet, within 3-5 business days of your refund confirmation please send us an email at Support@theretrogamegarage.com

Sale items

Items are refunded at the Net Price at the time of sale (minus any conditional refund adjustments).

Exchanges

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If no replacement item is in stock, store credit or refund is available at your choosing.

Shipping returns

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. The exception to this is if you receive a defective item, to which we will purchase and supply a shipping label for you to attach to your shipping box/envelope. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.

If you are returning more expensive items, you may consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
