What makes a console “Refurbished”

Here at Retro Game Garage, we conduct a refurbishment on all of our consoles we sell, regardless of exterior condition. We take apart all consoles down to the motherboard, allowing us to remove any and all dust or dirt that has accumulated over the years. Additionally, if there are any broken or non-functioning parts to the console those are corrected in the refurbishment process. A refurbishment completed correctly ensures the console you purchase lasts for much more time to come!

Refurbishing includes:

  • Any repairs to bring the console to full working condition
  • A deep cleaning inside/outside of the console in order to remove dirt/dust and other debris
  • Replacement of old thermal paste on consoles that utilize thermal paste instead of thermal pads
  • Inspection of thermal pads to ensure their integrity, and replace as needed

Refurbished is a term that can be loosely thrown around and does not have one legalized definition, which tends to lead to confusion for most. However, in the interest of transparency, we wanted to define what a refurbishment means to us. Hopefully this information helps in your buying process!
